The day before my breast surgery last year, I went to sit outside on our deck to enjoy the sunshine and flowers. I was certainly anxious about the surgery but was trying not to think about it too much. I tried reaching out to the Lord, but wasn’t getting much of a response. Before too long, a beautiful yellow butterfly appeared and surprisingly, rather than going to the flowers, it began fluttering all around me. How lovely!A little while later a hummingbird came buzzing by, sampling all the flowers around me. They are such beautiful, fierce little creatures. Such a wonder of aerodynamics as they hover like a helicopter and swoop like a dive bomber.
Now here’s where it gets really interesting – as I continued to sit there enjoying the sunshine, I looked up and saw an eagle cutting across the sky overhead. I’ve seen eagles in this area before, but they are still a magnificent and rare siting. I was beginning to think this wasn’t a random nature event!
Then, in case I had any doubt, I heard the buzz of a small plane. Not unheard of here, but certainly not a frequent occurrence. To my astonishment, the plane literally circled right overhead for several minutes. I may not have have heard from God in words, but there was no doubt in my mind that He was enjoying giving me His divine message: Can you hear me now??? I love it when God makes me laugh!
A friend of mine calls these God winks – a humorous and loving sign that He is totally aware of us and our concerns and fears. I felt such a tender reassurance of His loving presence surrounding me as I approached my surgery!
Romans 1:20: For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Visitations from Heaven 
I love this, Meg. I walk in Hollinshead Park almost every morning, and I listen to the birds. “If I care for the birds, how much more will I care for you.” A really loose paraphrase, but I hear it. 🙏🏻
